Seeing #TheWeddingParty tonight, I’m reminded of Ibukun GreatLady Sanusi’s poem I read earlier this week.
“The day I saw you, my heart skipped a beat.
When I spoke to you, it was like no one else mattered.
I fell in love with you and I knew that things would never be the same.
Your world became resplendent to me.
Your name became a melody in my head.
And you became my favorite song.
The color of love was no longer red,
YOU became my color of love.
Those moments when it felt like we didn’t see face to face,
you still were the face in my vision.
My path became clearer,
My will became stronger,
My hope became deeper,
To you alone I sing my love song.
I could make a symphony for ya
I could organise a concert
Just so all can know,
You are mine, I am yours
Wouldn’t that be amazing?
A LOVE DESIRE
Can you guarantee you’ll never make a mistake in love?
Can you guarantee you’ll never hurt your Lover?
It’s the reason why Love is important
Forgiveness, and commitment can find their strength
Marry someone who has that thing about her
That even on the day your strength fails
Even when you disagree and fight
You can look at her and have sweet memories
You can still look at her, your ego and all
And deep in your heart
You know you’d give the world to make her smile
Marry someone you love
Marry for the right reasons
Tonight, I appreciate all the men and women
Who didn’t succumb to the pressure
Of tying the knots with a distant heart
Of being entangled in a loveless home
Just to satisfy this or that
Who let the Spirit in them lead them
You help we single boys exercise patience
And put all our hormones and emotions in check
I am theimisiOluwa; I am grateful for your courage
